Condolence From: Eleanor Hall Hutton
Condolence: I echo my brother Jack's tribute to "Marty" Greer. A great business teacher and attractive, lively person! An old memory comes to mind ---in 1952 Mrs. Greer threw Virginia Price and me out of typing class . Coach Emory Hill had taken us with the baseball team to play a game at Liberty Hall. He was missing two players to make nine (9) so we both played in the outfield. When we returned to school Mrs. Greer removed us from class because as she said, we "had no business missing class to watch a baseball game". Have known her all these years and laughed with her many times. She was unique and tough! She will be missed by many of us. My memorial for her will be to Emory and Henry College..

Condolence From: Jack Hall
Condolence: We had many fine teachers during my years in the Damascus schools (I graduated in 1961) and Mrs. Greer was one of the finest. I took bookkeeping from her, participated in a couple of the plays she directed, and edited the student newspaper under her supervision and help. A very intelligent lady with a sparkling personality, and the ability to demand the best from her students. I have always remembered her as one of the best teachers I've had.

Condolence From: Edna (Roop) Briggs
Condolence: My condolences to the family of Mrs. Greer. She was one of my very favorite teachers; she taught me typing and shorthand in Damascus High School 1956-1958. Those skills gave me a living for several years until I could save enough money to continue my education. Mrs. Greer was an excellent teacher and I appreciated her so very much and will never forget her.

Condolence: Ron,
I am so sorry about the passing of your Aunt Marty. She was an One of a Kind Woman! She knew what she wanted and wouldn't stop until she got it. When Marty first moved to Oakmont, she would come to the front desk and sit with me(sometimes for 2 hours) so she could shop on Amazon, buy stocks, or just talk. It was so hard to watch her memory come & go, but she never forgot the paintings on the wall I "sold" her. I know she loved you dearly. She will be missed, though her spirit lives on. You are in my prayers.
