Abingdon, Va.

Nellie “Nell” Dramas Counts, age 92, a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Grace Healthcare of Abingdon.

She was born August 23, 1925, the youngest of 12 children to the late Howard Fletcher Counts and Cordelia Dye Counts. Nell lived most of her life in Hayters Gap and in her later years moved to Abingdon. Nell was a dedicated caregiver for her family throughout her life. She was a loving aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend to many.

She is preceded in death by six brothers: Garland, Roy, Bascom, Douglas, Charlie, and Virgil Counts; five sisters, Hassie C. Davenport, Violet C “Bess” Davenport, Laurie C. Slemp, Elizabeth C. Slemp, and Ruth C. Taylor. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Grace Healthcare and Caris Hospice. The family would also like to say a very special thank you to all of her caregivers, especially Anita Stigers.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park.

Nephews and great nephews will serve as pallbearers.
