ABINGDON, Va.

Leona Stevens Montgomery, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Commonwealth Senior Living.

She was born on March 30, 1933, in Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of the late William Russell Stevens and Mary Richardson Stevens. She lived her entire life in Washington County and was a member of Greendale Chapel. She worked for Emory and Henry College and the Washington County Library. She was also a member of the Blacks Fort Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gray Stevens, Grover Stevens, and Fleenor Stevens; two sisters, Elsie Price and Dorothy Eldreth Currington; a beloved son-in-law, Pat Neal; and the father of her children, Don Montgomery.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Montgomery Price and husband, Ricky of Abingdon and Kim Neal of Abingdon; one sister, Marie Arnold of Bristol, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Angela Long and husband, Stephen, Kelli Rooks and husband, Allen, Ericka Price, Andrea Price, Kristopher Price and wife, Lauren, and Erinn Briele and husband, Chris; eight great-grandchildren, Connor, Dillon, Graham, Madelynn, Nathan, Bellamy, Carson, and Jack; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 8, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and the Rev. Tim Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until time of the funeral service.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mark Wilkinson, Kristopher Price, Allen Rooks, Stephen Long, Adam Wright, Steve Price and Ricky Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Nelson, Dan Stevens, Johnny Hogston, Earl Hicks, and Chris Briele. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
