Obituary for
Norman (Ted) McCracken
Norman “Ted” F. McCracken, 69, of Abingdon, Va., passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at his home with his loved ones beside him.
Ted was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was retired from Westinghouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Landon and Lena Mae McCracken; brothers, Jim and Curtis McCracken; sisters, Catherine Tool, Sue Widener, Glenna Watson, Francis Williams and Linda Tibbet.
Survivors include his sons, Doug McCracken of San Diego, Calif., and Daniel (Danny) McCracken and wife, Christy; stepson, James (Marty) Holloway and wife, Alice, all of Abingdon, Va.; special grandson, Austin Holloway who loved spending time with Ted and thought of him as father; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Bill McCracken and wife, Pat; sisters, Becky Yarbough and husband, Nat, Ethel Mason, Ann Akers and Bobbie Lucker.
The family would like to thank Southwest Home Nursing, Northgate Pharmacy and a very special friend, Jim Gates.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2017, at Frost Funeral Home. Family and friends will then travel in procession to Maple Grove Cemetery in Washington County, Va., for a graveside service with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
