THOMAS DOUGLAS FINDLEY, Sr.
Thomas (Tom) Douglas Findley, Sr., age 70, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at his home.
He was born November 2, 1945, in Washington County, Virginia, a son of the late Gail Findley and Regina Blackwell Findley. He lived his entire life in the Meadowview area and attended Greendale Chapel. He was a former employee of VDOT and retired from General Engineering after twenty years of service. He was an active farmer until the time of his death and loved tobacco farming and feeding his cattle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Gail Findley.
Survivors include a very special long-time friend, Carolyn Keesee of Glade Spring, VA; two sons, Doug Findley of Meadowview, VA, and Blaine Findley and wife Shannon of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Grace Findley Walden and husband William, Ethan Findley, Tyler Carr and Ethan Carr; one great-granddaughter, Melody Walden; five sisters, Elizabeth Gray and husband Eddie, Elaine Counts and husband Claude, Judy Wilson and friend Preston Blackwell, Billie Snyder and friend Mack Boyd, and Betty Nickles and husband Jimmy; a sister-in-law, Helen Findley; two great aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2016, at 6:00 P.M. at Greendale Chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The visitation will follow immediately after the funeral service. The graveside service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery on Old Salt Works Road. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Blevins, Harless Puckett, George Shrader, Jim Gobble and Men of Greendale Chapel. The family suggests that memorial contribution be made to Mt.
