Abingdon, Va.
Jennie P. Nelson, age 94, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Nelson was born April 18, 1923 to the late Tom and Mariah Pecco. She grew up and spent most of her life in Belfry, Ky. where she was a member of Sharondale Church of Christ for 60 years. In 2002 she moved to Abingdon, Va. where she attended Painter Creek Church of Christ.
Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Nelson; daughter, Marie Fletcher; son, Eddie Nelson; granddaughter, Lisa Dawn Evans; three brothers, Tom, Buster and Sam Pecco; four sisters, Marie Ball, Irene Salyers, Ann DiBuono, and Lois Stratton;
Survivors include daughter, Helen Evans; son, George Nelson and wife Linda; sister, Pauline “Polly” Hackney; son-in-law, Robert Fletcher; daughter-in-law, Annetta Nelson; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Collins, Jennie Williams, Allyson Dunn, Christy Layne, Brandon Nelson, Angel Bevins, Donald Evans, and Malisa Overbey; thirteen great grandchildren; also, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6pm until 8pm at Painter Creek Church of Christ. A service will be held 11 am Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Painter Creek Church of Christ with Pastor Mark Gaminde and Pastor Bob Werntz officiating. A committal service will follow at Solid Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
