Catherine Lewis, 69, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses.
Catherine was born February 7, 1948 in Saltville, Va. Catherine was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who lived a majority of her life in Glade Spring, Va. Catherine was a simple lady who asked nothing from others but always there to lend a hand and gave the most treasured gift, “Love and Affection”.
Catherine is preceded in death by her father and mother, Walter and Leona; sisters, Peggy and Judy; brother, Walter Lee; and son, Ronnie Whittaker.
Survivors include her husband, Junior, who was by her side before and throughout her illness(s) and known as the love of her life; son, Marty Lewis; sisters, Elizabeth Blackwell and Patty Nelson; brothers, Walter, Jr. (Monica), Mark (Jennifer) and Joe; grandchildren Autumn and Jimmy Lewis, Ronnie Whittaker III and Angel Sykes (Paul); along with many very special uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Catherine had a special love for her niece Leanne who considered Catherine a second mom and was always there when either of them needed the other.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, caregivers, and dedicated staff’s that provided care and loving support during her illness(s). Words can never express the gratitude for the treating her with the best care possible.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice or just provide a gift to someone in need. At the request of Catherine, no services will be held.
