Betty Jean Holmes Helton, age 84, went to be with her heavenly Father on November 28, 2017 at Grace Healthcare.

Betty was born on July 26, 1933 in Russell County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Jeff & Maxie Holmes. She was a faithful member of Hayter’s Gap Church for many years. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family and others around her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Fitzhugh Lee Helton; infant son, Mark Dewayne Helton; son in law, David Leo Booth, Jr.; sister, Donia Hess and brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Tootsie Holmes.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy White (Roger) of Meadowview, VA and Connie Booth of Abingdon, VA; son, Steven Helton (Mary) of Glade Spring, VA; seven grandchildren, Crystal Hutton (Justin), Brittany Frederick (Matthew,) Justin Helton, Jonathan Helton (Cortney), Jessica Rogers (Josh), Destiny Helton and Miracle Helton; two great grandchildren, McKenna and Carter Hutton; sisters, Sue Poston (Charlie), Margaret Holloway (Claude), and Brenda Hiles, brothers, Thomas Holmes, Bob Holmes (Vada), Herbert Holmes (Margaret), Henry Holmes (Inge), Jeff Holmes, Jr (Opal), and James Holmes (Donna), a special niece, Stephanie Caudill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Archie Cook and Rev. DeWayne Riddle officiating. A graveside service will follow at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin Helton, Jonathan Helton, Justin Hutton, Josh Rogers, Charles Poston, Jeff Kestner, and Claude Counts, Jr.
