Obituary for Fred Darrell Barker

Green Cove, Virginia

Fred Darrell Barker, age 80, of the Green Cove community went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2017 after a long six-year battle with leukemia and many other illnesses.

He was a member of Green Cove Baptist Church, also a member of the Masonic Lodge #34, master for two years, and mason for forty-three years.

He is survived by his wife Clara Jean Necessary Barker of Green Cove, Virginia.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Evelyn Barker and son Randy Barker.

He is survived by his son Dean Barker of South Carolina, two grandsons Justin and Jordan; Two stepsons Scotty Necessary, wife Elizabeth of Green Cove and Steven Necessary, wife Vickie of Georgia. One sister, Velda Phillips of Florida, brother Jimmy Barker, wife Betty of Leesburg, Virginia; many nieces, nephews, and very special friends.

Special thanks to the Cancer Center in Abingdon, Virginia and all the wonderful nurses in the Cancer Center. Also thanks to Max Meadows for all their help and care.

Memorial services will be held on November 18, 2017 at 11:00am at Green Cove Baptist Church. The Reverend Leonard Tenney and Harley Farmer will be conducting the services.
