Clayburn Franklin Surber, Jr., age 62, of Abingdon, Va., passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born August 20, 1954, to the late Clayburn Surber, Sr. and Wilma Osborne Surber of Damascus, Va. and worked at Columbus McKinnon for 38 years.

He is also preceded in death by one son, Clayburn Anthony Surber and mother-in-law, Joyce Widener.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Joan Widener Surber of Abingdon, Va.; one daughter, Jessica Surber and Boyfriend Mike Blevins; two step grandsons; two step granddaughters; three brothers, Charlie Surber and wife Ruth of Abingdon, Va., Tommy Surber and wife Laura of Damascus, Va., Sammy Surber of Bristol, TN.; three sisters, Ruth Thomas and husband Terry of Laurel Bloomery, TN., Clara Hawkins of Mountain City, TN., Becky Brinegar and husband Dennis of Damascus, Va.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Frost Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, July 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Va. with Rev. Paul Collins and Bart Richardson officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.

Pallbearers will be Mike Finley, Jimmy Fletcher, Mitchell Wright, Zeb Nash, Brian Fritz, Travis Fritz, and Chris Finley. Those attending the graveside service are asked to gather at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
