Obituary for Emolyn Thomas King

Mrs. Emolyn Thomas King, age 73, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Grace Healthcare Center in Abingdon, Va.

She was born July 28, 1943, in Glade Spring, Va. and was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. Emolyn was a member of Byars-Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Washington County Public School system as payroll supervisor after 30 years of service.

She is predeceased by her husband, Bobby L. King; parents, George A. and Mamie Arnett Thomas; brother, Lloyd Thomas, and sisters, Eleanor Hamilton and June Ryburn.

Survivors include her brother, Kenneth "Bobby" Thomas (Barbara) of Harrisonburg, Va.; first cousins, Joy Heard and Kenneth Thomas; nephews, Phillip Thomas, Paul Thomas (Sue), Andrew Thomas (Kathleen), Timothy Thomas (Laura) and Nathan Thomas (Amanda); nieces, Lynette Snyder (Fred) and Valerie Beck (Rick). Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Frost Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May, 21, 2017, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1019 E. Valley Drive, Bristol, Va., 24201, with Reverend Paul Griffith officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are requested to assemble at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
