Obituary for
James "Tobe" Necessary
James Frederick “Tobe” Necessary, age 80, of Green Cove, Va., passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
He was born October 6, 1936, one of ten children to the late James “Bert” and Ora Necessary both of Green Cove, Va. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Lois Necessary; three brothers, Archie Necessary, Charles “Boot” Necessary and L.C. “Buck” Necessary and three sisters, Virginia “Sis” Cummings, Myrtle Rivercomb and Freda Hess.
He was a lifelong resident of Green Cove, Va. Tobe was a well-known carpenter and an avid trout fisherman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Damascus Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janie Lois Necessary; three children, Alan Necessary of Abingdon, Tom Necessary of Meadowview and Angie Blevins and husband Dennis of White Top, Va.; two sisters, Patricia Marple of Independence, Va. and Shelby Kondas of Staunton, Va.; one brother, Kenneth Necessary of Damascus; grandchildren, Drew Necessary of Marion, Heaven Necessary of Meadowview, Will Necessary of South Carolina, Taylor Blevins of White Top, Tiffany Blevins of White Top and John Pratt of Abingdon; great grandchild, Faith Pratt; special friends include, Debbie Coe, Marlina Phillips, Rene Gambrill, Jess Finley and Ken Huff.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to his special family friend and physician, Dr. Todd Narin and also to Dr. Robinette and the Heart Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to the Mt. Rogers Volunteer Fire Department.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Damascus Church of Christ with Mr. Walter Staude and Mr. Harley Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
