Mary Louise Russ, age 86, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 30, 2017.
Born to the late William and Glenna Almany Tate on May 17, 1930 in Wallace, Virginia. She was a lifetime resident of Washington County, a friend to everyone she met. Her smile lit up the room, and she made everyone feel welcome. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord and was a Proverbs 31 woman, and lived every day of her life to the fullest. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, James William Russ, Sr.; sisters, Margaret Cadle, Dorothy Tate, Evelyn Cresong, Martha Williams; brothers, John and Fred Tate; daughter-in-law, Jane Russ; and step grandsons, Brad and Travis Lasley.
Mary Louise Russ is survived by her children, James William Russ, Jr. of Bristol, VA., Freddie Russ and wife Lorrie of Abingdon, VA., and Patsy Russ of Abingdon, VA.; two sisters, Sue Helton of Abingdon, VA. and Barbara Goodman of Lake Placid, FL.; two brothers, Lewis "Con" Tate and wife Linda of Abingdon, VA. and Dan Tate of Duffield, VA.; two precious grandchildren that she raised as her own, Jamie Russ of Cincinnati, OH. and Ashley Russ of Abingdon, VA.; her very special friend and neighbor of over 65 years, Annette Singleton; and several nieces and nephew.
Graveside Service for Mrs. Mary Louise Russ will be at 1:00 P.M. April 1, 2017 at Rust Hollow Cemetery with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 12:45 P.M.
