Obituary for Gary Carl Robinson

Gary Carl Robinson
Gary C. Robinson, 84, of The Villages, Florida, died March 2nd, 2017, at Harbor Chase Facility in The Villages, Florida.

He was born June 20th, 1932, in Grand Island, NE, to Carl and Ellouise (Stahlnecker) Robinson. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1950. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he spent time on the Coral Sea and U.S. Intrepid (Carrier).

After returning from military duty, he attended and graduated with a BA degree from Hastings College in Hastings, NE. He always told about attending classes with Tom Osborn. Needless to say he was a Cornhusker fan.

After graduation, his first job was in Jacksonville, Florida with IBM, but later joined State Farm Insurance. He was in the training program for a short time, then left Jacksonville in 1966 to accept an opportunity as Agency Administration Manager in the Ohio Regional Office. Gary was very active in several business organizations. The one he enjoyed most was serving as Vice President and President of the Granville, Ohio Kiwanis Club.

When Gary moved to Ohio, he was assisting in a company move involving the Regional Office in Maryland. That is where he met his wife, Patsy Belcher. They were married in 1968.

Corporate Headquarters recognized his management skills and he was promoted to the Home Office in Bloomington, IL in 1976. After a couple of years, he was asked to take on one more challenge and that was in the Convention and Travel Department. He traveled to Spain, Germany, Austria, Monaco, Mexico and other areas to organize and manage agency travels.

Gary retired from State Farm in 1994 and a year later moved to The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy (Freeman) Robinson and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11th, 2017, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Lusk officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, One Partnership Circle, Abingdon, Va., 24210.

Donations/contributions can be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 601, Casa Bella, The Villages, Florida, 32162-3640.
