David "Tommy" Singleton
Abingdon, Va.
David Thomas “Tommy” Singleton, age 68, of Abingdon, Va., went to walk with Jesus his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, March 2, 2017, following a lengthy struggle.
He was a true inspiration to all who knew him. He was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Va., and a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was a loving son, husband, father, pappy and friend to everyone. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. He was a highly respected QA Manager of Bristol Metals Inc. and retired after 47 years. He loved farming, his tractors and his farm animals all of his life…. Especially “Lucky”. During his lengthy struggle he was strengthened by his faith in God and encouraged by his faithful furry companion “Mickey”.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garland Singleton and sister, Martha Singleton Williams.
He is survived by his precious mother, Annette Singleton; his strong amazing wife of 46 years, Connie “Nanny” Singleton; sons, Brian Singleton and wife Tawnya of Abingdon, Va., Travis Singleton and wife Misty of Glade Spring, Va., Shawn Singleton and wife Candy of Bristol, Va.; daughter, Stacie Singleton of Abingdon, Va.; grandchildren, Lance Sandefur, Trevor Sandefur, Isaac Singleton, Eli Singleton, Logan Singleton, Jadyn Singleton and Lexi Singleton; step grandchildren, Macie and Preston Frazier; brother, Jim Singleton and wife Kathy of Blountville, Tenn.; special brother-in-law, Gary Williams of Abingdon, Va.; sisters, Cathy Narcrelli and husband Rob of Elkton, MD, Debbie Foster and husband Jeff of Knoxville, Tenn., Betty Moye and husband Charlie of Saraland, AL; sister-in-law, Wanda Bailey and husband Bobby of Abingdon, Va.; and several special nieces and nephews.
According to his wishes, there will be a visitation from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon, Va. A graveside service will immediately follow at Rust Hollow Cemetery on Rust Hollow Road in Abingdon, Va. with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Pallbearers will be Lance Sandefur, Trevor Sandefur, Isaac Singleton, Eli Singleton, Bobby Bailey and Michael Bailey.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, Tenn. 38105, or a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all who have been so faithful and for the many prayers during his struggle. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Matt Beasy, Dr. Haytham Adada, Scott Steffy FNP, Barbie Leong RN, Ms. Elly, Chaplain and all the nurses and aides who assisted in his care.
