Howard Edward Garrett, age 91, went to be with the Lord February 18, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Bristol, Va.
He was born April 13, 1925 to the late Mr. Lee National and Mrs. Rhoda Elizabeth Garrett. He was a lifelong resident of the area, and was a member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Edith Loraine Garrett.
Survivors include one son: Lynnwood Garrett and wife Margaret of Knoxville, Tn.; two grandsons; Randall Garrett and wife Donnett of Powell, Tn.; and Jason Garrett of Knoxville, Tn.; one granddaughter; Tracy Bazen and husband Ernie of Knoxville, Tn.;six great-grandchildren; and a very special niece Eileen Long and husband Kenneth; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held at 7 P.M. Monday, February 20, 2017 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Eggers and Rev. Kenneth Widner officiating. Family will receive friends and family from 5 P.M. until time of service. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in the Valley View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Long, Darrell Long, Tony Williams, Sonny Kestner, James Widner, and David Counts. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Marshall and Garnett Mann.
