Obituary for Earl S. O'Quinn

Earl S. O'Quinn
Abingdon, VA
Earl O’Quinn 1936 – 2017
On Friday, January 20th Heaven gained a special angel as Earl O’Quinn, age 80, of Abingdon, VA went home to be with the Lord. Earl was a retired coal miner of 28 years from Clinchfield Coal Company, but will be best remembered as a loving, devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather like no other. Although he is no longer with us, the example he has left for us to follow as to how to love and how to treat others will leave a legacy that will last forever. He was his sons’ first hero and his daughters’ first love. “To have a friend you have to be a friend.”
Earl is survived by his wife and love of his life, Helen O’Quinn. Daughters Linda Diane Church and husband Benny Church, and Carolyn Compton and husband Ron Compton. Sons Danny O’Quinn and wife Portia O’Quinn, and Jeff O’Quinn and wife Heather O’Quinn. Grandsons Jarrod Church, Jordan Compton, Jon Sutherland, Dannan O’Quinn, Peyton O’Quinn and Deacon O’Quinn. Granddaughters Whitney Compton, Hannah Church and Olivia O’Quinn. Great Granddaughters Zoey Compton, Myla Compton, Danica Sutherland, Ella Sutherland and Laila Fuller. Great Grandson Ryker Sutherland. Brothers Emory O’Quinn, Buster O’Quinn (wife Jean), Glen O’Quinn (wife Lucy) and Eddie O’Quinn (wife Judy). A loving sister Velva Lambert, and a sister-in-law Iona O’Quinn. He was proceeded in death by daughter Wanda O’Quinn and son Randall Earl O’Quinn. He had many friends and neighbors that meant the world to him.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11 am in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with a committal service following at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Family will receive friends and family from 5pm until 7 pm Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Frost Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny O’Quinn, Jeff O’Quinn, Jordan Compton, Jarrod Church, Dannan O’Quinn, Peyton O’Quinn, Jon Sutherland, Whitney Compton, Hannah Church, Ronnie Compton and Benny Church. Honorary pallbearers will be David Meadows, Lloyd Blankenship, Emory, Buster, Glen, and Eddie O’Quinn, and nephews.
John 14: 1-3
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
