Obituary for Dr. Samuel Shaw, III

Dr. Samuel Shaw III, of Abingdon, Va., passed away Friday, January 6, 2017, at Grace Healthcare in Abingdon, Va.

He was born on September 16, 1926, in Whitinsville, Mass., a son of the late Samuel Shaw II and Doris Marchant Shaw. He had served his country well, being discharged from four branches of service. He was a professor at the School of Mines at Golden, Colorado for many years. After his retirement, he and his spouse of 31 years, Sally Johnson Shaw traveled to many states on consulting services at gold mines.

Samuel has a son, Sam IV and wife Carol; grandson, Scott Shaw; daughter, Ann all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Doris J. Prior-Kofold; step-daughters, Shelby Peak and husband Vaughn of Dallas, Texas, and Cathie Klassen and husband Kirk of Nashville, Tenn.; step-grandchildren, Mackensie Shirack and husband Brandon, and Kirstin and Clark Klassen; step-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Bellamy Shirack.

There will be no services at this time, but a memorial service will take place in the early spring. An announcement of this service will be included in the Bristol Herald Courier.
