Henry M. Fugate, age 90, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

He was a well-known resident of Abingdon, Va., and an avid outdoorsman and golfer. Mr. Fugate was a retired truck driver from Consolidated Freightways. He never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ann Fugate; two daughters, Kathy Fugate and Donna Yarber and husband, Eddie; one son, Zeke Fugate and wife, Cathy; the light of his life his grandson, Nick Yarber and wife, Dawn; one great grandson, Sam; and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Billy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Walter Keller, Wes Keller, Nick Yarber, Baron Yarber, Burton Yarber, Chris Widener, Paul Russell and Rick Casey.
