Obituary for Jeanie Hall Perry

Jeanie Hall Perry
Big Stone Gap, Va.

Jeanie Hall Perry, age 67, of Big Stone Gap, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 9, 2016, surrounded by the love and care of her family after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Jeanie was born March 4, 1949, in Inman, Va., and was a lifelong resident of Wise County, Va. She and her husband owned and operated Webb’s Appliance and Bedding in Big Stone Gap, Va. for over 20 years. She was a dedicated Christian and a member of the Lighthouse Family Worship Center.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and dear friend. Throughout her life she was an incredible homemaker for her family. She was always able to provide a great meal, and more importantly, a comforting word when things went wrong. Her giving spirit touched everyone she met.

Throughout her battle with cancer the love she had for her family and her peaceful Christ-like personality always showed. She never wavered and never gave up the fight even though she knew her final healing reward was so much more than her earthly battle. Whenever she prayed you could always hear her say “Jesus is my healer” and now she has received the greatest healing of all. No words can express the love and appreciation to the many family members and friends who were willing to give tireless hours of love and support during this time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert Hall and Margie Anderson Hall.

Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Ronnie Perry, of the home; son, Matthew Perry and wife Amanda, of Abingdon, Va.; three sisters: Pat Austin and husband Hollie, of Plainfield, Ill.; Jodi Orndorff and husband Dana, of Appalachia, Va.;and Debbie Ford and husband Tom, of Duffield, Va.; two brothers, Bob Hall, of Bowling Green, Ky. and Larry Hall and wife Fran, of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two very special sisters-in-law, who were her sisters at heart, Retha Williams and husband Estell, of Abingdon, Va.; and Shirley Kyle and husband Roy, of Glade Spring, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Powers of Wise, Va.; several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to those that provided such excellent and compassionate care, Dr. Leonid Volodin, Dr. Michael Keng and staff at the UVA Cancer Center, the staff at the Regional Cancer Center at Indian Path Medical Center, and Dr. Audrey Campbell, Dr. Brandon Moore, and Dr. Bryan Watson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to the Lighthouse Family Worship Center, P. O. Box 2103, Wise, Va. 24293.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Lighthouse Family Worship Center, 145 Lake St. NW, Wise, Va. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with Pastor Roger Barker, Pastor Nathaniel Maggard and Rev. Leonard Lane officiating. Committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016, in Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, Va. A funeral procession will assemble at the church at 12 noon.

Active pallbearers will be Eddie Buchanan, Doug Campbell, Doug Carico, Jimmy Hall, David Mullins and Rev. Bud Kilbourne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Stan Tate, Wayne Wells, Estell Williams, Roy Kyle, Hollie Austin, Dana Orndorff, Tom Ford, nephews and her church family at the Lighthouse Family Worship Center.
