Roby Lee Orr Jr, age 77, went to be with the Lord September 30, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Roby was born in Saltville, VA in 1939. He joined the Navy in 1956 at the young age of 17, while serving his country for 22 years before retiring in 1978. He loved traveling the world and seeing many different places. Upon retiring he moved back to Southwest Virginia were he purchased a farm while working for Columbus Mckinnon Corporation. At the age of 50 he decided to become a recreational pilot. Roby was a member of Damascus Methodist Church. While enjoying all of these things Roby adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roby is preceded in death by his parents Roby Lee Orr Sr. and Erma Orr.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Judy Orr; three children: Roby Orr III, Pam Norris and husband Mike, and Jimmy Atkins and wife Tabitha; three sisters: Ruth Arrington, Eloise Thomas and husband Joe, Linda Cieri and husband Joe; three brothers: Allen Orr, Joe Orr and wife Debbie, and Jack Orr and wife Susan; five grandchildren: Roby Orr IV and wife Leah, Tyler Orr, Jordan Orr, Austin Atkins, and Cameron Atkins; three great grandchildren: Audrey and Roby Orr V, and Corey Roberts. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm with the services beginning at 12:30 pm. A graveside service will be held immediately following the service in the Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Rev. Jim Denton and Jeanne Denton will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Finley, Brad Arrington, Tyler Orr, Roby Orr IV, Wesley Stickels, and C.J. Stickels. Military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy.
