CHARLES (PETE) FLEENOR

Charles (Pete) Fleenor, age 77, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home.

He was born February 28, 1939, in Washington County, Virginia, a son of the late Charlie Fleenor and Mary Cox Fleenor. He lived his entire life in the Abingdon area and worked for Lambert Oil Company for many years. He also worked for Walmart Transportation and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Maxie Leonard; and two brothers, Cleason Fleenor and Jackie Fleenor.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Christine Fleenor of Abingdon; one daughter, Charlotte Blackburn and husband Kenny of Abingdon; one son, Scooter Fleenor and wife Kim of Abingdon; one sister, Mandy Hearl of Meadowview, VA; four brothers, J. W. Fleenor and wife Ginger of Abingdon, Hubert Fleenor and wife Lynda of Bristol, VA, Kyle Fleenor and wife Debbie of Warsaw, NC, and Curtis Fleenor and wife Chris of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Laura Kay and Derek Nickels, Christy and Jeremiah Riggs, Josh Blackburn, Zach Fleenor, and Kelsey Fleenor; step granddaughter, Amber Fillers; four great-grandchildren, Peyton Taylor, Abagail McCroskey, Malachi Malina, and Maci Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, at 8:00 P.M. at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Canter and Rev. Clinton Goad officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until time of the funeral service. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M. Pallbearers will be Mark Fleenor, Billy Hearl, Robert Fleenor, Curt Fleenor, Rick Fleenor, Paul Newman Smith, and Kevin Whitson. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Malien Rogers, Dr. William Handy, Melinda Lester, RN, and all the staff of the VA hospital for their love and concern for Pete.
