Shirley Marie Helton Otey, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Abingdon Health and Rehab. She was born on May 20, 1939 to the late Harvey and Helen Taylor Helton. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Otey, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include two sisters-in law whom she loved more like sisters, Eliza Helton of High Point, NC, and her very special sister-in-law Gracie Ferguson, of Meadowview, VA; two step daughters, and three step sons. She is also survived by four step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 12 Noon on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery in Abingdon, VA. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until time of the service.
