Anthony "Tony" Alan Jessee
Anthony “Tony” Alan Jessee, 56, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Abingdon, Va., and lived in the area his entire life. Tony was an expert welder, having worked for Kerns Bakery for 20 years and later with Utility Trailers. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time farming. As a child he became a member of Washington Chapel United Methodist Church and later attended Antioch House of Prayer.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Lynn Jessee; maternal grandparents, Robert and Margaret Yeatts; paternal grandmother, Kathleen Jessee; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugh and Martha Wise.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Letha Wise Jessee of the home; mother and step-father, Sandra and Tom Rothwell of Taylorsville, Miss.; two daughters, Tonya Rasnick and husband Dave of Abingdon and Shannon Thomas and husband Chris of Marion, Va.; three grandchildren, Connor, Logan and Kelsie; one sister, Kimberly Jessee of Johnson City, Tenn.; one brother, Wade Jessee of Castlewood, Va.; two aunts, Karen Brewer and husband Ralph, and Juanita Hubbard; one niece; one nephew; numerous cousins and many special friends.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Price and Bobby Helton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the time of service. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Sherfey, J.D. Wise, Donald Wise, Larry Wise, Glen Wise and Earl Wise. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Emory Robinette, Frank Blair, Chris Thomas, Dave Rasnick, Dale Hubbard, Jason Brewer and Ralph Brewer.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association, 9702 Gayton Rd, 110, Richmond, Va., 23238 in his memory.
The family is gathering at the home where friends may visit at any time.
