Obituary for Melvin Eldreth

Melvin Ray Eldreth, of Abingdon, Va., went away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

He was born May 23, 1943 to the late Dollie Mae Johnson Eldreth and Ray Eldreth. Melvin was known for his beautiful furniture making as owner of Park Creek Wood Products.

Melvin was a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia C. Eldreth; children, Lorne and Becky Eldreth of Glade Spring, Va., Sherry and Dee Booher of Roanoke, Va.; daughter-in-law, Temple Yarber of Glade Spring, Va. and a son, Ben Eldreth with whom he is now being reunited in heaven; five grandchildren, Lauren, Ashton, Zach, Isaac and Landon; five great grandchildren, Connor, Blaine, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Joy and Amberly; one devoted sister, Carol Ball of Bristol, Tenn.; aunt, Bonnie Abel; special cousin, Randy; special sister-in-law, Minnie Miller; four other siblings, Betty, Janet, Howard and Jerry; and numerous dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Denton Valley Baptist Church, Melvin grew up in this church. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Ketron and Rev. Floyd Nelson. Burial will follow the service at Montgomery Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jr. Rouse, Bob Anderson, Tony Surber, James Smith and Barry Vandyke. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Bowman, Bill Briscoe, David Watts, Ben Widener, Sonny Matney and David Mount.
