Mrs. James T. (Charlotte) Orfield, Jr., was carried away peacefully into Heaven by the arms of her Savior Monday afternoon, November 16, 2015. She was a homemaker, a prayer warrior for her children, family and friends, and a faithful witness of her Savior Jesus Christ, to all those with whom she came into contact.
She was born June 9, 1923, to her parents Campbell and Olive Salyers of Wise, Va. One of six children, she moved to Abingdon, Va. in 1941 and married her husband of 57 years, James T. Orfield, Jr. Her love of family and loyalty to Jesus Christ fulfilled her life of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Orfield, Jr., and one son, James Thomas Orfield, III.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Counts and husband John “J.C.” of Abingdon, Va., and Christy Townsend and husband Manuel of Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren, Andrea Counts of Abingdon, Va., John Counts, Jr. and wife Laura of Bristol, Va., Rebekah Herron and Laura Townsend of Gate City, Va.; four great grandchildren, Ellen Grace Counts of Bristol, Va., Bryson and Hunter Lester of Gate City, Va., and Emma Rose Herron of Gate City, Va.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Abingdon Health and Rehab for their continued care, love, and support shown to their mother during her brief stay.
Services and burial for Mrs. Orfield will be private.
