Obituary for
Michelle Nunley Thayer
Michelle Nunley Thayer, age 48, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
She was born February 23, 1967, in Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of Billy Nunley and the late Josie Tweed Nunley. She lived her entire life in Washington County and was a 1985 graduate of Abingdon High School. She was employed by the USDA Farm Service Agency for over 20 years. She was a member of Mt. View United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday School Teacher and Youth Coordinator. As a dedicated mother and aunt, she was actively involved in youth sporting events.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin D. Thayer of Abingdon; one daughter, Hannah N. Thayer of Abingdon; one son, Tyler M. Thayer of Abingdon; her father, Billy Nunley of Abingdon; one sister, Kim Andis and husband Blake of Abingdon; one brother, Anthony Nunley and wife Megan of Abingdon; one niece, Kori Andis; three nephews, Dylan Andis, Luke Nunley, and Parker Nunley; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 18426 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Rev. Walter Weikel and Rev. Sandra Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 P.M. until time of the funeral service. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 23, 2015, at Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery, Route 75, Abingdon, with Rev. Donald Thayer officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to Mt.
