Obituary for
Clifford VanHoose
Clifford A. VanHoose 77, of Clay City, IN, a former resident of (Indianapolis), (Evansville), and (Abingdon, VA) died at 11:45 AM June 24, 2005 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Born in Davy, West Virginia on July 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Delmer V. VanHoose, Sr., and Mary Rebecca (Hardwick) VanHoose. He was a retired member of Sheet Metal Workers Local # 20 out of Indianapolis and had retired in 1987. He was a Navy veteran in the Asiatic Pacific during WW2 and was also an Army veteran of Korea. He belonged to Clay City VFW# 6606. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers and 3 sisters Vasco V. VanHoose, Jr., Billy H. VanHoose, Jr., Bobby L. VanHoose, Hazel Berry, Airetta Craigo, and Dolly Hagy. Survivors include his wife, Laura Rachel (Heugel) VanHoose, married on December 5, 1954. One daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Fred Olmsted, of Indianapolis; one sister and brother-in-law Betty and John Owens of Greenville, SC, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. VanHoose will be cremated also according to his wishes, there are no services scheduled. For those who choose, contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association in his memory. Arrangements in Indiana are being handled by DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr., Terre Haute, IN 47802.
